How to grow the plant

How to grow the plant

1. Breeding environment

(1) Soil: The main requirements are good drainage and air permeability, as well as weak acidity. Specifically, you can use leaf mold and sandy soil, evenly mixed as breeding soil.

(2) Temperature: Floating plants prefer warmth, so a temperature around 20 degrees is more suitable. Be sure to pay attention in winter and do not let the temperature drop below zero, otherwise you will get frostbite.

(3) Watering: The plant prefers moisture. Therefore, especially during the growth period, it is necessary to provide sufficient water to keep the potting soil moist. But it is also afraid of waterlogging and cannot have stagnant water. In autumn and winter, you can reduce the frequency of watering. However, it may bloom in winter and needs a little extra water.

(4) Fertilization: Fertilizer should be applied once a month, mainly during the growing season.

2. Prevent and control pests and diseases

Pests and diseases are quite common, such as "powdery mildew" and other common pests. For diseases, thiophanate-methyl can be used to treat them; for insect pests, omethoate emulsifiable concentrate can be used to treat them.

3. Repotting

You can repot the plant once a year, replace some of the old soil, trim the roots, and cut off rotten roots. If necessary, you can switch to a larger pot.

4. Reproduction method

The most commonly used methods are cuttings and sowing. Cuttings are mainly taken in May and June, using branches eight to ten centimeters long, and pay attention to maintaining humidity. Because the seeds are small, it is not advisable to cover the soil when sowing. After sowing, if the conditions are suitable, it will germinate in about half a month.
