How to grow miniature coconut palm quickly

How to grow miniature coconut palm quickly

one. Note on potting soil

If you are growing it at home, the most common white plastic pot will do. If it is your first time growing it, you can choose a clay pot which will not go wrong. This way you can prevent root rot when you water it too much. Do not use soil in the pot casually for planting. If you want it to grow faster in the future, you need to mix the soil according to a certain proportion and prepare it according to the size of the pot. The recipe is as follows: about two parts of peat soil plus one part of leaf mold plus one part of river sand and a little decomposed cake fertilizer, just mix them.

two. Light Control

The miniature coconut palm actually doesn’t like places with too much sunlight. It likes to grow in relatively cool places, so it is very suitable for indoor cultivation. Therefore, when growing miniature coconut palms, do not place them on a balcony exposed to direct sunlight, as this will cause the leaves of the miniature coconut palms to dry out and grow too slowly. However, it should be noted that you should not place it in a place that is too dark and humid, otherwise it will easily cause the leaves to weaken, the roots to rot, and lead to death. There can be light, but it should not be too strong, so that the miniature coconut palm can grow quickly.

three. Temperature control

Although it likes shade, the temperature must also be controlled. The miniature coconut palm likes warm places just like the coconut tree, so the best growth temperature is 20 to 30 degrees Celsius. If it is summer, the indoor temperature should not exceed 33 degrees Celsius. In winter, it is best to control it at around 15 degrees Celsius, and never lower than 10 degrees Celsius.

Four. Water and fertilizer control

The roots of the miniature coconut palm have a relatively strong ability to absorb water, so it is necessary to ensure that the cultivation soil is moist. It tends to dry out in summer, so remember to water it frequently. You can also spray water on the leaves and rhizomes to ensure the humidity of the growing environment, but be sure not to let water accumulate in the pot, otherwise it will easily cause root rot. Fertilizer management for miniature coconut palms is relatively simple, and generally fertilizer is applied twice a year.
