How to grow lotus

How to grow lotus

1. Breeding environment

1. Watering: The temperature is higher in summer, and it is also its peak growth period. The demand for water will also increase at this time, so it cannot be dehydrated in summer. During the rainy season, please note that the accumulated water cannot cover the upright leaves, and reasonable drainage measures must be taken in a timely manner.

2. Fertilization: Lotus likes fertilizer, but the amount of fertilizer should not be too large. If too much fertilizer is applied, it will burn it. Lotus has higher requirements for fertilizer in summer, and it is best to apply fertilizer every 15-20 days. If the lotus becomes yellow and thin and has no spots, it proves that it is lacking fertilizer and should be fertilized in time.

3. Light: There must be sufficient light. For home cultivation, place it in a sunny location. After it buds, give it at least 4 hours of light a day, otherwise the leaves will turn yellow and the buds will wither.

2. Breeding Methods

1. Seed propagation: Soak the opened seeds in water, they will germinate in a week. Change the water frequently. They can be transplanted in about half a month. When transplanting, pay attention to exposing the lotus leaves to the outside and the water layer should not be too deep. Just maintain it normally.

2. Propagation by dividing the lotus roots: Take out the prepared lotus roots from the soil, clean the silt, and do not let water enter the tail when planting. After planting, place them in the sun. When the soil becomes dry, irrigate with an appropriate amount of water. Increase the amount of water after germination.

3. Common diseases

1. Rot disease: The disease occurs more severely when the leaves are soaked in water for a long time or the soil is barren. Appropriate fertilizer should be applied and the water layer should not be too deep. Carbendazim can be sprayed for prevention and control.

2. Brown spot disease: Brown spots will appear on the leaves of lotus. The disease will worsen during the rainy season. The diseased leaves should be cleaned up in time. If the disease is serious, you can spray it with carbendazim or mancozeb solution.
