How to grow poinsettia

How to grow poinsettia

1. Breeding environment

(1) Soil: Choose soil that is loose, breathable, well-drained, and rich in nutrients. Specifically, sandy loam can be selected.

(2) Light: Generally speaking, poinsettias prefer light and need to be provided with sufficient light. Otherwise, the plant will turn yellow and drop its leaves. In autumn and winter, it is best to provide full sun, and at worst half sun. In summer, appropriate shading can be provided. During the flowering period, sufficient light is needed and it can be placed in a bright place.

(3) Temperature: It likes warmth. The most suitable temperature is fifteen to twenty-five degrees. The temperature needs to be above 15 degrees in winter, otherwise the plant will shed its leaves, and in severe cases, it will freeze to death. But it is also not resistant to high temperatures and needs to be cooled in summer.

(4) Fertilizer: During cultivation, some base fertilizer can be mixed into the soil. In addition, during the growing season, fertilizers can be added, paying attention to the balance of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium fertilizers. Note: small amounts and multiple times. During the flowering period, reduce nitrogen fertilizer.

(5) Watering: It likes moisture and grows fast, so it needs to be provided with sufficient water. You can water more often in summer, but stop watering on rainy days. It is also necessary in autumn and winter, about once every one or two days. When watering, do not get water on the leaves or flower buds.

2. Repotting

There is no fixed interval for repotting. You can judge whether to replace it based on its height. When the height exceeds forty or fifty centimeters, the soil needs to be changed and a larger pot needs to be used. If the height does not reach this high, you don't need to change it for the time being.
