How to grow lilies

How to grow lilies

1. Breeding environment

1. Soil: Sandy soil with good drainage and rich humus is suitable for growing lilies. It is best to choose acidic soil, which is conducive to better growth.

2. Temperature: It is best to control the temperature at 16-24℃. If it is lower than 5℃ or higher than 30℃, it will stop growing.

3. Light: Lilies like plenty of sunlight. If the light time is short, it will affect the differentiation of flower buds and the normal growth of flowers. It is best to place it in a sunny place.

4. Watering: Keep the flower soil moist. Water once in the morning and evening in summer and autumn. Check the moisture of the soil before watering in spring and winter. If the soil is dry, water it appropriately. When the temperature is high, spray water around to lower the temperature.

2. Breeding Methods

1. Seeding propagation: Collect seeds and store them, and then sow them in the spring of next year. They will germinate about 20-30 days after sowing. Shade them during the seedling stage, and they can be transplanted in autumn.

2. Propagation by cuttings: After digging out the bulb, break off the scales, wait for them to dry, and then cut them into the prepared soil. Pour a certain amount of water on it, and it will take root in about one and a half months.

3. Common diseases

1. Spot disease: There will be brown spots on the leaves, and the entire leaves will turn black and die. Once discovered, the diseased leaves should be removed immediately and sprayed with wettable powder of Zineb.

2. Bulb rot: Brown spots appear on the bulb, which may rot in severe cases. You can spray it with mancozeb after the disease occurs.
