How to grow fuchsia

How to grow fuchsia

1. Breeding environment

(1) Soil: The most important requirement is good drainage, fertility and looseness. You can use garden soil, humus soil, and farm manure in a ratio of one:one:one. No need to add basal fertilizer to avoid root rot.

(2) Fertilization: Fertilization is required during the growth and flowering periods. Use fertilizer containing phosphorus and nitrogen every ten days or so. But don't make the concentration too high.

(3) Watering: Keep moist during the growth period. However, during the flowering period, if it is too humid, it will cause flowers and leaves to fall, so water control is necessary. In addition, when the temperature is below ten degrees in winter, water should also be controlled.

(4) Temperature: The plant prefers warmth, preferably in the range of 15 to 25 degrees Celsius. Temperatures below five degrees will cause frost damage. In order to promote growth in the next year, the winter temperature should be around ten degrees and the lowest should be five degrees.

(5) Light: The light is required, but it should not be too strong. Usually place it in a bright place, and shade it when the light is too strong. In addition, long-term exposure is not good.

2. Repotting and loosening the soil

The plant grows very fast and the nutrients in the soil are easily insufficient, so it needs to be repotted regularly. Generally, the pot needs to be changed in spring every year, before the peak growth season begins. Not only do you need to replace part of the old soil with new soil, but you also need to cut off the old and rotten roots. The requirements for the selection of new soil remain unchanged. As for loosening the soil, it can be done in spring and autumn.
