Gardenia does not bloom, blooms slowly, or blooms less. This may be due to the following reasons:

1. Insufficient light

Especially for the gardenias that I have grown for 1-2 years, it is already late spring and I haven’t seen them bloom yet. What’s going on? Huahua’s answer: Not enough light!

Although gardenia likes shade and can be grown indoors, it needs sufficient light to form flower buds after wintering. The sun is not very strong in spring, so move the gardenia to the sun quickly.

2. Soil alkalinization

Gardenias that have been grown for more than one year will not bloom because the soil has become alkaline. Gardenias like acidic soil. The soil in some areas is alkaline, and the soil will become alkaline if you water it.

When watering gardenia, it is best to let the tap water settle for a few days before watering.

3. Not enough pruning

Some flower lovers think that gardenia grows slowly, so they don't care about it. In the end, the branches grow in disorder, consuming a lot of nutrients, and there is not enough for blooming.

Gardenia can be pruned after flowering in May-July or after December when it enters dormancy. Cut off the thin branches and keep 3 buds on one branch. Place it in a ventilated place to heal, or apply carbendazim for disinfection.

In addition to pruning, you can also pinch the heart and cut off the dead flowers of the general fine-leaved gardenia.

The remaining flowers can also be cut off, and the cutting position should be the lignified part of the flower stalk.

After pruning, the gardenia grows better, the nutrients are more concentrated, the flower buds are more numerous, and the flowers are larger.

4. Pests and diseases

Green worms, red spiders, and scale insects are prone to appear on gardenias. Don’t underestimate the insects because they are small. If you ignore them for a day, they can spread. It’s really scary!

If a caterpillar appears, just pick it up with chopsticks.

If it is red spider mites or scale insects, you can put a large bag over the flower pot and light some mosquito coils inside. You don’t have to burn the whole pot. Just smoke for 20 minutes.

If there are few insects, you can just spray them away with a spray bottle.

In order to prevent the breeding of insects, it is best to place the gardenia in a ventilated place. Do not let water accumulate in the pot soil. Water it only when the soil is dry.

Rose

A branch of rose can normally produce more than 5-6 flowers. When I see the roses grown by the masters, I always feel that they are "flowering machines". If you do the following things, you can also grow roses like this at home!

1. Eat enough fat

Roses like fertilizer, and they must have enough fertilizer to bloom more. We can usually buy slow-release fertilizers, flowering fertilizers, and compound fertilizers on the market. It is more convenient to use them according to the instructions.

After rice washing water and soybean water have been fermented for 3-4 weeks, they can be mixed with water to water the flowers (ratio 1:2000)

Seal the fruit peels in the soil and ferment for 1 month. After fermentation, add 10-20 grams of it to the flower soil every 10 days.

If conditions permit, you can mix some chicken manure or sheep manure into the flower soil, and the flowers will flourish.

2. Get enough sunshine

Roses like light and it is best to be exposed to the sun all day. The more sun they are exposed to, the more prosperously they bloom. In addition to outdoor cultivation, we can also grow them on the south balcony. If there is a window sill with good lighting at home, we can also grow them.

3. Pest control

Roses are easily susceptible to insects and diseases. Powdery mildew, leafcutter bees, aphids, etc. seriously affect bud formation and flowering. Kill them quickly!

If you find them early and there are not many insects, you can just crush them to death or spray them away with a spray bottle. If the insects are concentrated on a certain branch, you can cut them off directly. If there are too many, you can spray imidacloprid solution to kill the insects.

For leafcutter bees, you can place sticky insect boards near the roses to catch all the insects, big and small!

As the temperature gradually rises, insects are more likely to breed. We can take precautions in advance and pay attention to cleaning the leaves when watering to keep them clean.

4. Prune blind branches

When nutrition is insufficient, roses are prone to blind branches and buds.

Blind branches and buds will not grow into useful branches, so they should be cut off in time to preserve nutrients, but when cutting, the buds below should be retained.

The blind buds on the branches should be picked off so that the main stem of the rose can grow stronger and concentrate nutrients to form buds and bloom!
