How to care for newly bought Phalaenopsis

How to care for newly bought Phalaenopsis

1. Lighting

Phalaenopsis is a plant that likes light, but when you first buy it, it is better to place it in a place with scattered light, and not in a place with particularly strong light. Because the plant has not yet adapted to the environment at this time, its growth rate is very slow and strong light can easily burn it. After it adapts to the environment, you can increase the time it is exposed to light.

2. Temperature

When you first buy it, in order to allow it to better adapt to the new environment, it is best to place it in a warmer place. Specifically, the temperature can be controlled between 20-25°C. After a period of time, it will adapt to the environment and resume growth.

3. Watering

It grows slowly when it is just bought and does not need a lot of water. Therefore, it is not advisable to water it frequently at this time, otherwise its roots may be waterlogged. Wait until the planting material becomes dry before watering again. Specifically, you can water it every 4-5 days. If the planting material has good drainage and dries quickly, you can increase the watering frequency appropriately. After it starts to grow normally, you can change to watering once every 2-3 days.

4. Fertilization

When you first buy it, you don't need to fertilize it. Because it is adapting to the environment at this time, the amount of fertilizer required is not high. If you fertilize it, the fertilizers will accumulate in the planting material and damage its root system. Once its potting period is over, you can fertilize it.
