How to make acidic soil?

It is not easy to get good soil when growing flowers in the city. In order to ensure that the flowers at home have good soil when they are repotted, we can use our usual time to prepare it, which will make it much more convenient when we need to use it.

1. Prepare some fallen pine needles, willow leaves or poplar leaves. When you go out for a run or a walk, you can bring a plastic bag and put some in it when you encounter it.

2. First, spread a layer of soil on the bottom of the pot, then spread a layer of fallen leaves, then add soil, and then add fallen leaves. Repeat this layer by layer 3 to 4 times.

3. After everything is laid, water it thoroughly, add some ferrous sulfate, compact it down, and seal the soil with a plastic bag.

4. During the soil composting period, you can add some ferrous sulfate every once in a while to ensure the acidity of the soil. Generally, acidic soil can be obtained in 4 to 6 months.

5. Acidic soil can be used to grow flowers such as Milan, camellia, jasmine, gardenia and azalea.

How to turn alkaline soil into acidic soil?

In addition to using leaves to make homemade acidic soil, we can also use some tips to change alkaline soil into acidic soil.

1. Vinegar (preferably salt-free rice vinegar). Mixing vinegar and water in a ratio of 1:50 and watering it on acid-loving flowers can quickly change the acidity of the soil, turning alkaline soil into acidic soil.

2. Fruit peel water. Don't throw away apple peels and leftover cores. Soak them in water overnight and then use the water to water the flowers. This can improve the alkaline soil and slowly turn it acidic. If you have gardenia or jasmine at home, you can try this.

3. Rice washing water. Many flower lovers say that rice water is the best to use. It can change the acidity and alkalinity of the soil and can also be used as fertilizer. That's true, but you must make sure to compost it first, add water and seal it. It will be composted after two weeks of high temperature, and then you can mix it with water in a 1:20 ratio and water it with the flowers.

With acidic soil, jasmine is guaranteed to grow well! So what else should we pay attention to when caring for jasmine?

1. There must be sufficient light.

Jasmine likes light. If it is placed in a room with insufficient sunlight, its leaves will grow thin and easily become too tall. Adequate sunlight can make jasmine grow stronger and is also conducive to flowering.

2. Don’t water too much.

Jasmine is relatively drought-resistant. Generally, you can wait until the soil is more than half dry before watering it. Water it once a week. Watering too much will cause it to grow too tall.

3. Keep up with fertilization.

During the growth period of jasmine, you should pay attention to fertilizing it. You can apply 0.1% potassium dihydrogen phosphate solution, or you can use chicken manure and bone meal as base fertilizer and mix it into the soil. Only with sufficient nutrition can more branches and flower buds be produced.

4. Pay attention to pruning.

Jasmine's old branches are not easy to bloom. Timely pruning can promote the growth of new branches and more flowers. There are two principles for pruning:

① During the flowering period, if the flowers bloom slowly, be sure to cut off the weak buds and leaves near the large flower buds to ensure the flowers open.

② Jasmine can be heavily pruned in spring and autumn. When pruning, only two pairs of leaves and two growth nodes should be left on each branch, and the rest should be cut off. Heavy pruning is to promote the development of side branches and make the jasmine more lush.
