What to do if Yushu is frostbitten

What to do if Yushu is frostbitten

1. Unsalvageable

In fact, it depends on how badly it is frozen. If it is serious, its roots will be rotten beyond recognition. In addition, its upper part has wilted and gradually deflated, making it difficult to save. Generally, young and tender ones will grow slower, and in extremely serious cases, their roots will turn into water. At this time, we can only give up because they will not survive even if we save them.

If the temperature is below five degrees, we must start taking anti-freeze measures for it. If the temperature is even lower, lower than zero degrees, it is very likely to suffer frostbite. So once we find that the temperature has dropped, we must put it in the room, because the temperature in the room will not be very low, at least it can still cope with its growth. It requires an environment above seven degrees, which can be reached in most rooms. If it cannot be reached, we have to cover it with a plastic bag.

2. Salvageable

If it can be saved, generally its roots have not rotted yet, so we just need to cut off the damaged part, and then let the cut place dry. The soil should be kept dry, and the amount of watering should be controlled, otherwise if there is too much water, the roots are likely to rot again. As long as it does not rot this winter, it will grow very well in the spring of the second year.

Its leaves may be a little dry in winter, so we can spray them with some fine mist. In addition, we should not throw it away easily because the leaves are frozen, but if there are branches, we can give it some fertilizer and it will grow well again. After a year or two, it will be a particularly beautiful plant again. Therefore, we must pay attention to cold prevention in winter. If possible, you can consider moving it to a greenhouse and then starting normal breeding after winter is over so that it can grow in a good posture.
