Cuttings never take root? Try these 6 tips, and turn 1 pot into 10 pots. You won’t have enough space at home!

Cuttings never take root? Try these 6 tips, and turn 1 pot into 10 pots. You won’t have enough space at home!

Leaf cutting propagation

Take Kalanchoe as an example:

1. Select healthy leaves that are intact, cut them off, and place them in a cool and ventilated place to dry for 1-2 days.

2. Prepare the soil for leaf cuttings: mix leaf mold and river sand in a ratio of 1:1.

3. Apply rooting powder on the wounds of the dried leaves and insert them into the soil. Water them thoroughly and place them in a place without direct sunlight. The flowerpot could be slightly bigger.

4. Generally, the leaves will take root in about 15 days.

5. Transplant into pots. Transplant the rooted leaves into prepared soil.

6. Christmas cactus, tiger skin plant, geranium, etc. can all be propagated by leaf cuttings. For leaf cuttings of succulents, dry the leaves and place them flat on the soil in the pot, being careful not to insert them vertically into the soil.

Branch propagation

Take rose as an example:

1. Cut healthy rose branches, 8-10 cm in length, and make sure there are two leaves on the branches.

2. Insert the processed branches into the prepared sandy soil, water them thoroughly, and place them in a place with scattered light at home.

3. The rose cuttings will take root in about 15 days, and then they can be transplanted into pots.

4. Camellia, hydrangea, bougainvillea, gardenia, etc. can be propagated by branches.

Propagation by runners

Take Chlorophytum as an example:

1. Many plants, such as spider plants, mint, and strawberries, can be propagated using runners.

2. First cut off the creeping branches and put them in a container for hydroponics to grow roots.

3. The roots of the spider plant have grown well.

4. Transplant into pots and continue cultivating.

Layering propagation

Layering propagation can be divided into ground layering and aerial layering.

Gardenia, forsythia, and hydrangea are suitable for ground layering; osmanthus, jasmine, and azalea can be layered with high branches.

1. Ground layering.

① Prepare a knife and a brick, choose a strong branch, and use a knife to cut a ring-shaped opening around the branch, but do not cut it off.

② Place the cut branches into the soil in a U shape, then cover them with soil and press them with bricks to keep the soil moist.

③ After about two months, roots will grow at the wound, and then you can cut off that part and transplant it into a pot.

2. High altitude layering.

① Choose a strong branch, peel it around to make a circular incision, and remove all the green skin. You can apply rooting powder on the cut of the branch to promote rooting faster.

②Put moist moss, sawdust, culture soil, etc. in a half-cut plastic bottle and wrap it around the wound. Tie the lower end tightly and leave a hole at the upper end to facilitate ventilation and watering.

③After rooting, you can cut off the layered part and transplant it into a pot.

Seed propagation

Take mango as an example:

1. Fruit seeds can be used to grow fruit potted plants.

2. Carefully remove the seeds from the mango core and soak them in water for 4-8 hours (the thicker the seed coat, the longer the soaking time).

3. Place the soaked seeds in the prepared soil, cover them with about 1 cm of soil, spray some water with a spray bottle, and wait for them to germinate.

4. After germination, you can wait for the mango tree to grow!

Propagation by division

Take aloe vera as an example:

1. Remove the aloe vera from the pot, clean the soil around the roots, cut off the side buds with a sterilized knife, and place them in a cool and ventilated place to dry the wounds.

2. Prepare potting soil with a ratio of 1:1 between leaf mold and river sand, transplant the dried aloe vera into the soil, water it thoroughly, and place it in a place with scattered light. After it has adapted to the pot, maintain it normally.

3. Orchids such as Clivia can be propagated by division.

Okay, about the propagation methods of flowers

Huahua introduced to you today

I wonder if you have learned it?

Welcome to leave a message for Huahua~

<<:  Give the flower a drink of "fresh fish soup" and it will grow rapidly to 20 meters, and no one can stop it!

>>:  Give the flowers some vinegar, and the yellow leaves will turn green in 5 days. The effect is comparable to "magic water"!
