What to do if the leaves of the fortune tree are frozen to death

What to do if the leaves of the fortune tree are frozen to death

1. Pruning branches

After the leaves of the money tree are frozen to death, they basically will not recover, so the frozen branches and leaves need to be cut off. This can reduce nutrient consumption and promote the growth of new branches. If the freezing condition is not serious, you can keep it and wait for it to recover.

2. Increase the temperature

A low temperature environment is not conducive to the growth and recovery of the money tree, so the temperature should be raised to above 5-6℃. If the temperature is too low, you can wrap the tree trunk with plastic film. If you want better insulation, you can wrap it in two layers and put cotton in the middle.

3. Increase Lighting

The money tree itself is shade-tolerant, but appropriate exposure to light is beneficial to photosynthesis and warming. It needs to be moved to a sunny place, or placed on the balcony indoors so that it can receive sunlight all day. In addition, its green stems can also carry out photosynthesis, so even if the leaves are frozen to death, it can still produce nutrients.

4. Proper watering

Low temperatures often affect the water absorption capacity of the roots of the money tree, and combined with the loss of water from the leaves, the plant will suffer from water shortage. However, it is not advisable to water immediately after frostbite, and it needs to be cured for a period of time first. If the plant is wilting, you can water it appropriately, but avoid water accumulation.
