How to grow peony well

How to grow peony well

1. Soil

We need to know that soil is very important to it. Because it has fleshy roots, we need to give it relatively loose and fertile soil. In addition, it prefers acidic soil and cannot grow in alkaline soil, because the latter can easily cause its leaves to turn yellow and may also cause it to shrink and die.

2. Watering

Watering is an indispensable process, but in fact it does not require watering very much. Generally, you only need to water it a few times before and after flowering. Of course, if you encounter spring drought at this time, watering is essential so that there is not a lack of moisture in the soil. Generally, the amount of watering should not be too much.

3. Lighting

You need to give it plenty of light so that it will grow better. If the conditions are not met, it doesn't matter if it is in a shady place, it can adapt. If it is in its flowering period, we can also cool it down and increase the humidity appropriately to prevent it from growing under strong light, and its flowering period will be longer.

4. Temperature

It can tolerate both cold and high temperatures, and generally temperatures as high as 40 degrees Celsius or as low as minus 40 degrees Celsius have no effect on it.

5. Fertilization

Fertilization needs to be controlled, generally three times a year is enough. It is necessary to apply it when new shoots, new leaves and flowers are growing, but not at other times.

6. Plastic surgery

In order to make it healthier and better looking, it needs to be shaped, that is, branches need to be pruned, etc. Of course, the flowers should also be pruned if they are withered, otherwise the nutrients may be wasted in vain.

7. Diseases and pests

Basically, the dosage of the medicine should be controlled according to the severity of the disease. It is usually sprayed on the disease more often. In addition, early prevention is more important.

8. Flowering period

If side buds grow before it blooms, we need to pick off the extra buds so that there is more nutrients and the buds on the top will grow larger and more beautiful. If there is no need to harvest the seeds, the stems can be cut off after the flowers fade so that it does not consume nutrients by growing seeds.
