How to water Dutch chrysanthemums

How to water Dutch chrysanthemums

1. Its demand for water

This plant prefers a moist environment. However, it does have a certain tolerance to drought. However, it is definitely not okay not to water it for a long time. Also, don't make it too moist to the point of waterlogging. The reason is simple. If there is too much water, the roots will easily rot.

2. Principles to be followed

Generally speaking, the principle is "see dry and see wet". In simple terms, it means waiting until the soil in the pot is dry enough before watering. If it is not completely dry yet, you can temporarily stop watering. Also, when watering, make sure to water thoroughly. This is done not only to prevent excessive watering that may cause root rot, but also to avoid moisture that may cause diseases and pests.

3. Watering at specific times

(1) During its peak growth period, specifically in spring and summer. At this stage, you can water more because the water demand will be correspondingly large.

(2) In autumn, because the weather is relatively dry, you need to water more. Not only in autumn, but also in other relatively dry times, you can also water more.

(3) Before entering winter, we need to give it some freezing water. This is done to ensure it survives the winter safely. During other periods of winter, plant growth generally slows down and water requirements decrease. Then, it’s okay not to water it.

4. Notes

Summer can be a rainy season and the rain can be very heavy. At this time, if it rains, you can water it less appropriately. However, when it rains very heavily, it is not suitable to leave it outside any longer. Remove it in time to avoid excessive water accumulation.
