Hydrangea propagation

Hydrangea is very easy to propagate. Whether it is planted directly or by division or cuttings, as long as it is kept warm and humid, it will grow quickly.

Division method : If your friends or neighbors have adult hydrangeas, it is very easy to deal with. Spring is the breeding season for hydrangeas, and adult hydrangeas will divide into many small plants:

1. Find adult hydrangeas with derivatives

In spring, hydrangeas sprout from their roots, small lives clustered together

2. Carefully dig out the new branches and try not to break the roots.

3. Plant it in a flowerpot, use soft, breathable soil, and just keep it moist (the surface of the soil in the pot does not turn white). No need to expose it to the sun, just wait for the seedlings to grow rapidly!

Cutting method : Flower lovers who don’t have adult hydrangeas around don’t have to worry, just use one hydrangea stem.

1. Cut the flower stem into the length of your palm.

2. Hydrangea leaves consume nutrients, so we cut off half of the leaves to preserve nutrients.

3. That's it, the leaves are facing upwards

4. Insert into the soil and wait for roots to take shape. Common soils such as loose and breathable gravel soil, bamboo soil, coconut coir mixed with ordinary garden soil, general leaf mold, etc. can all be used. Hydrangea likes moisture, so you can put a plastic bag on the outside of the flowerpot to keep it warm and moist.

A set of plastic bags and a small greenhouse is built

5. You can add some rooting powder in this process to ensure faster rooting

6. It will take about 8-15 days to take root

7. After rooting, plant the tree in a pot and keep the soil soft.

Watering Hydrangeas

Hydrangea's leaves and flowers are relatively large, so they need to be watered sufficiently. If you see that the leaves of the hydrangea are drooping and look lifeless, you need to water it. Hydrangeas love to drink water, and they will quickly regain their vitality after watering.

You can also use a small spray bottle to spray water on it at ordinary times, which will make it look more beautiful.

Hydrangea lighting

Hydrangea is really a good baby. You can just put it in the corner of the balcony or in a place with average light indoors. It likes shade and does not need too much sunlight. Excessive sun exposure will only make it dry, shrink, and get sick.

Place it in a shaded place for a while

Or put it on the enclosed balcony to dry

Don't overexpose to the sun

Hydrangea is so well-behaved that it can be grown in the study, bedroom, or office!

Emergency

Some flower lovers may ask, why are the leaves of my hydrangea curled up?

The leaves curl up because the soil is too fertile and the hydrangea has too many nutrients. There is no need to add fertilizer in the later stage. If the situation is serious, change the soil immediately.

Why is the hydrangea not looking energetic?

If the hydrangea is not in good shape, it may be due to sunburn, insufficient watering, or overwatering. Just discover and deal with it in time.

What causes yellowing leaves?

Yellowing leaves may be a soil problem, which can be solved by changing the soil.

Hydrangea color change

The same hydrangea may have several color variations, which is also one of the charms of hydrangea. So what is the reason why hydrangeas change color?

It is normal for hydrangeas to change color. Acidic soil will produce blue flowers, while alkaline soil will produce red flowers. Green, purple, and pink hydrangeas bloom because the soil's pH is unstable.

Here are some tips for changing the color:

1. Do you like hydrangeas in blue and green tones?

Add some vinegar before the hydrangea buds form. Just dissolve a little in the water for watering the flowers. This will make the soil acidic and allow blue flowers to bloom.

2. Like red hydrangea?

Then sprinkle some wood ash in the soil before buds form to make the soil alkaline, so that red hydrangeas can bloom.
