When to plant watermelon

1. Planting time

Watermelon is generally planted in spring. Early-maturing varieties are planted around mid-March and will mature by early to mid-July. Some are late-maturing, planted around mid-to-late April, and some are planted between June and July.

If planted in a greenhouse, it will be relatively casual. Usually when cultivating on land, the ground temperature should be maintained at 15℃. If it is too low, it will be detrimental to the growth of watermelon seeds. Therefore, the specific time of planting is uncertain and should be adjusted according to the local climate.

2. Planting Method

1. Germination: Before planting, put it in warm water for a while and take it out after about 12 hours. The purpose is to soften the outer skin of the seeds, then wrap them with wet gauze, spray water every day and wait for the small sprouts to grow before sowing.

2. Planting: After the germination work is done, plant the small sprouts of the seeds upwards into the soil, cover them with soil and give them some water.
