Balcony planting tips for water spinach

Tips for growing water spinach:

The seed coat of water spinach is relatively thick, and it will germinate slowly if sown directly. If it is exposed to long-term low temperatures and rainy weather, the seeds will rot. The seeds need to be soaked in warm water at 30℃ for 24 hours until the seeds turn white.

During the growth period, water spinach requires more water and fertilizer. If it has less water and fertilizer, it will grow slowly and the plant fiber will increase, which will affect the quality and taste of the vegetable.

When harvesting, be careful not to have too many branches on the side branches, and thin them out in time, otherwise the growth rate will slow down and the quality of the vegetables will be poor.

Planting method

sowing

Direct broadcast or hole sowing. Sprinkle the soaked seeds directly on the soil surface and cover with a thin layer of soil. Or dig a few holes 2 to 3 cm deep and plant the seeds in them. Then water it.

germination

The seeds will germinate after 4 days. Apply fertilizer in time after germination and sprinkle a layer of organic fertilizer on the soil surface to promote growth. Be careful not to sprinkle fertilizer on the young shoots.

Colonization

When the plant grows to about 12 cm, start thinning out and transplanting, and you can pull out the weak seedlings and use them. Select pots and plant the healthy seedlings directly. In fact, you can just plant vegetables in the original pots at home. There is no need to change pots, which is too troublesome.

Harvest

When the seedlings are 30 cm tall, they can be harvested! Be careful not to pull out the plants by the roots when harvesting. Leave three nodes on the roots to promote secondary growth.
