How to divide white palm

How to divide white palm

1. Time control

The most suitable period for this type of reproduction is from May to June. Because this plant comes from the tropics, it naturally likes high temperature environments. So, the temperature at this stage is more suitable for it. At this time, we can also combine it with repotting. Alternatively, it can be done after autumn, but it is not very common.

2. Selection of culture soil

The most basic requirements are looseness, good drainage and good air permeability. In addition, be careful not to use very sticky soil. Generally speaking, the culture soil should be mainly leaf mold and peat soil. In addition, some perlite can be added, but the amount should be small. Also, in order to meet its growth needs, it is okay to add a little flower fertilizer as base fertilizer.

3. Specific methods

Remove the entire plant from the pot. Then, shake off the old soil that is clinging to it. Once done, use a knife to divide the plant into several pieces starting from the base. Note that each portion needs to have some stems and buds, preferably more than three. Also, each portion needs to come with a sufficient amount of roots. Then, replant them in different pots with newly prepared potting soil. Next, we need to ensure that the temperature is at a suitable level, preferably around 25 degrees.

4. Notes

When dividing the plant into several parts, don't divide it into too many parts. Three parts are best. Otherwise, each part may not have enough roots and buds, which will greatly affect the final chance of survival.
