How to make lotus flower bloom

How to make lotus flower bloom

1. Plenty of sunlight

If you want it to bloom, you have to provide it with enough sunlight. It blooms from June to September and loves light very much. Because the temperature varies from place to place, the time of its flowering is also different. But no matter what, sufficient sunlight is essential. It should be given at least 5 hours of sunlight every day. If it is kept at home all the time, it will certainly not bloom.

2. Correct temperature

If the temperature is always below 15 degrees, it will be difficult for it to bloom. It must reach above 20 degrees to meet its growth and flowering requirements. We know that lotus flowers grow better in the wild in summer, and this is the reason. However, flowers that have not seen the light for a long time should not be placed directly under the sun, as this can easily damage the leaves.

3. Fertile Soil

You can use ordinary soil plus rotten leaves as a substrate. Many people only provide fine sand for their flowers. There is very little soil in it, and the nutrients it contains are difficult to support its flowering. If it is a newly sprouted plant, use less water. As it grows slowly, add more water. Don't add too much fertilizer, otherwise only leaves will grow and the flowers will not bloom.

4. Sufficient Space

The container for planting it must be large enough. If it is a larger variety, the diameter of the container must be 25 cm and the depth must be at least 20 cm, so that the stems in the soil can stretch and grow. If there are too many leaves, you can remove some to facilitate flowering.

5. Notes

If you use lotus root seeds, it will grow faster, but using seeds is more interesting and you can carefully watch every process of its life. Please note that when purchasing seeds, the seeds you buy may not be water lilies, or the variety may not be of very high quality, so it is difficult for them to bloom. Therefore, you should understand them in detail when purchasing seeds at the beginning to avoid affecting subsequent planting.
