How to Plant Chickpea Seeds

How to Plant Chickpea Seeds

1. Seed preparation and treatment

To obtain its seeds, we can buy them directly from the market, or we can pick them from the plants ourselves. No matter which method is used to obtain the seeds, we must first select the seeds carefully before planting them, and pick out the incomplete, bad, and broken grains. In addition, in order to ensure a higher germination rate after planting and reduce diseases, we also need to treat the seeds with drugs, so as to effectively prevent diseases in the seedling stage.

2. Choose the right soil

After the seeds are selected, we will start choosing the soil for the flowers. It does not have very strict requirements on flower soil. It can basically handle any soil, even the harsh soil where wheat cannot grow, it can survive. Despite this, in order to make it grow better, it is best to choose light loam with good drainage and loose texture when choosing flower soil.

3. Sowing time

If you are in the northern region, the sowing time is generally in spring, and it is best to do so after the local late spring frost, which is specifically from late April to mid-May. If you are in the southern region, the sowing time can be determined according to the local crop sowing time.

4. How to plant

There are many ways to sow seeds. First, we can sow seeds in individual strips on the ridges with a row spacing of 50 to 70 centimeters. Second, we can precisely sow the seeds on double ridges with a row spacing of 65 to 75 cm, a minimum row spacing of 15 to 20 cm, a plant spacing of 10 to 20 cm, and a planting depth of 5 to 10 cm. Then you can wait for it to sprout.

5. Post-maintenance

1. Intertillage and weeding

After a period of time, the seeds will sprout and then enter the seedling stage. However, its growth in the seedling stage is very small and it is easily affected by some weeds. So we need to weed it about 45 to 70 days after planting. If you want weeds to be less likely to grow, you can increase the aeration of the soil.

2. Moisture management

It does not require much water and is very drought-resistant, so you don't need to water it often, and you can't let it be exposed to rain.
