What should I do if the leaves of Brazilian iron plant turn yellow?

If you want to prevent or solve the symptoms of yellowing leaves, you must first understand the reasons for the yellowing and take preventive measures based on different reasons.

Reason 1: Malnutrition

The leaves of the Brazilian iron plant that I just bought from the market will gradually turn yellow due to the lack of timely nutrient supply due to the replacement of the soil. In addition, due to environmental changes, the indoor temperature of our homes is mostly relatively dry. The combination of the two will accelerate the yellowing of the leaves.

Solution: Spray the Brazilian iron plant with water at a fixed time every day, 2 to 3 times; spray it with ammonium sulfate and potassium dihydrogen phosphate solution once a week. When the weather gets warmer, you can switch to a larger pot and repot it with nutritious soil.

Reason 2: Lighting problem

When exposed to the scorching sun, the leaves of the Brazilian iron plant will turn yellow. In severe cases, the tips of the leaves will become dry and burnt.

Solution: The demand for light of Brazilian iron plant is not high, especially between May and October, so special attention should be paid to shading. You can expose it to weaker sunlight. If the temperature is too high, you can use water spray to cool the Brazilian iron, and at the same time you can increase the surrounding humidity.

Reason 3: Watering problem

Too much or too little watering will cause yellowing and withering of leaves.

Solution: Except for winter, the other three seasons are the best seasons for the growth of Brazilian iron. During the growing season, in addition to ensuring fertilizer, water should also be appropriate. Excessive watering can cause root rot, especially if waterlogging does not occur. In autumn, just keep the soil moist.
