How to prolong the flowering period of Amaryllis

How to prolong the flowering period of Amaryllis

1. Preparation of flower soil

If you want to grow it well and make it bloom for a longer time, you must choose the flower soil carefully, especially some flower soil purchased from outside. You should pay more attention to it. The first task when you get home is to replace more than half of the old soil, and then adjust it according to its growth habits. Usually it prefers flower soil with high nutrient content. Therefore, the soil can be selected according to such standards when mixing.

2. Light and temperature control

It likes light very much, and usually when you buy it from outside, most of them are in bloom, so we can put it in a place with sufficient light indoors, especially in winter. We must ensure that it has 4 to 6 hours of light every day and adjust the temperature to 18 to 25 degrees, so that the flowering time can be longer.

3. Supply of water and fertilizer

For a flower to bloom, the most important things are water and fertilizer. Amaryllis likes a humid environment, but not too humid, so we must strictly control the amount of water when watering. For example, we can give appropriate water according to the wetness of the soil. When watering, it is best to choose a spray bottle to spray its surface to fully maintain its moistness. In addition, Amaryllis likes fertilizer very much, especially those that are about to bloom, so you can add more phosphorus fertilizer to it at ordinary times, and then add some compound fertilizer after it blooms.

4. Daily care

As the plant continues to grow, its bulb will also grow larger, and then more small bulbs will be produced. We can repot it, change the soil, and divide it every spring so that the flowering period will be longer and more flowers will bloom next year.
