How long is the growth cycle of King Bamboo Grass?

Growth cycle of king grass

The growth cycle of King Grass is more than 10 months, and it can germinate 7 days after planting. Its growth cycle is relatively short, and it can be harvested within 40-60 days after planting. The King Grass will not die after harvesting, and it can be watered and fertilized to promote its growth and development again.

It can be planted in most parts of the country, especially in the barren mountains and river basins in the middle and upper reaches of the Yangtze River. In areas with large differences in style, the method of preserving the stem and the pod can be used. It has been successfully planted in the north (such as Xinjiang, Beijing, Henan, and Shandong).

Growth rate of King Grass

The growth rate of King Grass is particularly fast. First, the root system of King Grass is very developed, and its roots can extend to 40 to 50 cm deep in the soil to absorb water and nutrients; second, the middle and lower stem nodes of King Grass can produce aerial roots to absorb moisture in the air, and the plant will grow faster; third, King Grass is a typical "four-carbon plant" and will synthesize a large amount of organic matter under suitable temperature and high light intensity.

Management of the growth cycle of King Grass

Temperature Management:

In some areas in southern my country where the winter temperature is above 0℃, it can safely overwinter; in northern regions where the winter temperature is low, the rhizomes of the grass need to be covered with hay or plastic film, and it can also safely overwinter.

King bamboo grass has good cold resistance and can withstand low temperatures and light frost, but cannot withstand continuous freezing. It can keep its rhizomes alive and overwinter naturally at low temperatures of -2℃ to +2℃. It begins to grow when the temperature reaches 12-15℃, and 25-35℃ is the adapted growth temperature. When it is below 10℃, growth is inhibited, and growth stops when it is below 5℃. When the temperature drops below -2℃, there is a possibility of freezing to death.

Fertilization management:

Organic fertilizer and nitrogen fertilizer can be applied heavily. King bamboo grass is very tolerant to fertilizer. In order to accelerate growth and increase grass production, the frequency and quantity of fertilization can be increased, and its water requirements can be met. The better the fertilizer and water conditions, the more high-yield advantages can be exerted. Calculating the annual output of perennial grass, the yield per mu can reach more than 20 tons.
