How to propagate purple cigar flowers

How to propagate purple cigar flowers

1. Planting

This plant can grow in various places, such as flower beds or directly in potted plants, and it can also grow on the ground. It can be said that its growth environment is very wide. However, there are not many ways for it to reproduce, only two, one is sowing and the other is cutting.

There are requirements for the operation time, and it is generally carried out in spring. During this period or before this, we need to prepare the seeds. It is best to have seeds from the current year. It does not mean that seeds that have been stored for a long time cannot germinate, but the survival rate is much lower.

Be careful when selecting seeds. Do not use seeds that are rotten or have worm holes, as such seeds will not germinate. You should also pay attention to the selection of soil for sowing. You cannot choose it randomly. It must contain sufficient nutrients. As for temperature, water, etc., you should also pay attention to it. Be sure to provide it with the amount of water it needs. Unsuitable temperature will affect germination.

2. Cuttings

The time for cuttings is the same as that for sowing, both need to be done in spring. Of course, it is also feasible in autumn. As for other periods of the year, if the temperature can be adjusted well, this operation can also be carried out, but the effect is definitely not as good as in spring and autumn.

There are requirements for the stems we select. If we choose very thin stems, the effect will definitely be greatly reduced, so we have to choose relatively strong ones. In addition, we must pay attention to the fact that the branches must have terminal buds. If not, the success rate will also be affected.

After selecting the branches, we still have to perform some operations. First, we need to remove some of the leaves at the bottom. Generally speaking, the leaves on the branches that are more than two to three centimeters long need to be removed. Then we inserted it into the sand bed to a depth of two or three centimeters. It takes about ten days for the plant to take root. After taking root, we can put a nutrient bag on it. After one or two months, we can directly plant it.
