Asparagus is sown in the Yangtze River Basin and North China in spring from February to March, and transplanted in May. It is planted outdoors in autumn from July to August, and can be planted in greenhouses in October.

Asparagus harvest season

The flowering period of asparagus is from May to June, and the fruit ripening period is from September to October in autumn. The market price ranges from 4 to 6 yuan per catty. The yield of asparagus per mu is generally around 2,000 to 3,000 catties.

Asparagus planting steps and methods

1. Seed selection: You can choose varieties that are available for both mid-ripe green and white asparagus. It is recommended to choose varieties such as Atlas and Apollo. These varieties of asparagus have good flavor, strong adaptability, and high and stable yields;

2. Site selection and land preparation: The planting site should be a high-land, loose and fertile sandy soil. Before planting, the land needs to be deep-turned to a depth of 20-25 cm, and then base fertilizer is applied. The ridge width should be between 1.2-1.4 meters;

3. Sowing: Dig holes with a depth of 7.5 cm and plant the seedlings in the holes with a spacing of 30-40 cm. Plant one seedling in one hole for large plants and two seedlings in one hole for small plants. After planting, cover with 10 cm thick soil.
