How to care for cherry bonsai

How to care for cherry bonsai

1. Potting soil

The first and most important thing is to prepare soil suitable for its growth. If you like to do it yourself, you can prepare it yourself. Pick up some leaves, chicken manure, and mud and ferment them. This will be a good fertilizer with good air permeability and drainage effects.

2. Pruning

If it is a newly planted cherry bonsai in your home, you should cut off some branches because it does not have enough nutrients at the beginning. Doing so will allow more branches to grow and it will grow more vigorously. If your bonsai is about to bloom and has many branches, you should also prune it and cut off some dead and diseased branches. Not only will the potted plant be more beautiful, but the flowers will also be more vibrant.

3. Watering

It doesn't like too much water. If there is still a lot of accumulated water in your cherry bonsai, you have to drain the water, otherwise the roots of the cherry blossoms will easily be rotten. If the roots are damaged, the leaves and flowers will not be spared. The amount of water needed in different seasons is different. If the seedlings are too small, do not water them too much.

4. Fertilization

If you want to fertilize the cherry bonsai in the early stage, you should mainly use nitrogen fertilizer, which is beneficial to its development. In the later stage, you should add phosphorus fertilizer so that the nutrition is not excessive and will not affect the growth of flower buds. Always pay attention to the bonsai to make sure it does not lack nutrients, and fertilize it once a week so that the tree will have vitality and its branches, leaves and flower buds will be beautiful. In May and June, you can sprinkle 0.1-0.2% potassium dihydrogen phosphate. Fertilizer should be added before and after the flower buds open to prepare for the next year.

5. Prevention and control of diseases and pests

Its main symptoms are gummosis and root rot. Once these two conditions are found, the soil should be changed in time, water and fertilizer should be matched well, and the branches and leaves that should be removed should be cut off. The insects that may appear during its growth include aphids, small red spiders and scale insects. Spraying the pesticide 3 to 4 times will have a good effect. It is recommended to spray once before flowering, once after the flowers fall, and a third time in July and August. You must pay careful attention to the growth of the bonsai so that the tree can be full of vitality.
