How Tokyo cherry blossoms reproduce

How Tokyo cherry blossoms reproduce

one. sowing

1 After harvesting the cherries, you can remove the pits, then wash the outer flesh with clean water, and place them in a cool place to dry naturally. When sowing, you can directly sow the seeds in the pot. After sowing, it will germinate in about 10 to 30 days. We can wait until the seedlings are 5 to 10 cm high and transplant them into plastic pots. The seeds of this plant germinate very easily, but they do not germinate uniformly and some plants produce seeds with embryos that do not have sufficient vitality, with a germination rate of less than 30 percent.

2 If you choose to sow the seeds, be careful not to let them dry out. They should be sown immediately after being picked. Otherwise, pile them up with thick wet sand and wait until the next year to sow them.

two. Cuttings

1 If you want to propagate this plant, it is best to choose the two growing seasons of spring or summer. First, select some semi-mature and healthy branches, with a diameter of approximately 0.7 to 1.2 cm, each section should be 15 to 20 cm long, and each section should have 4 to 6 leaves.

2 Then plant them in a seedling bed mixed with river sand, peat soil or vermiculite. When planting, be sure to keep the soil moist and shade the branches. It will grow roots in about 1.5 to 2 months after it is planted. Wait until the roots grow more vigorously before transplanting it.

three. Layering

This method requires choosing branches that are more than two years old, then peeling the bark around the nodes below, then putting moist antlers in a transparent plastic bag, putting the branches in, and wrapping the wounds. After it grows roots, you can cut short the part below the layering, so that the potted plant will grow into a new plant. Usually this method is carried out in the spring and summer seasons when the plant grows vigorously, so that it can easily grow roots.
