How to plant ageratum seeds

How to plant ageratum seeds

one. Soil preparation

Different flowers require different soils for sowing, so choosing the right soil plays a vital role in the future growth and development of ageratum. The planting soil for ageratum needs to be garden soil, then add an equal amount of agricultural fertilizer, and then add a small amount of decomposed fertilizer and mix them evenly. With the soil prepared in this way, the seeds will germinate easily, and the developed ageratum will grow very strong.

2. Sowing

Since the seeds of ageratum are very small, sowing is not that easy. The sowing time is generally determined according to the flowering period of ageratum, so the flowering period can be regulated by adjusting the sowing period of ageratum. If you want them to bloom around Labor Day, you can sow them in late August or early September of the previous year. Then you need to keep them in a greenhouse over the winter and can take them out of the greenhouse until late April of the following year. However, in general, ageratum is sown in a greenhouse in February each year or in the open field in April.

When sowing, you need to put the prepared soil into the pot, then level it, press it, and water it thoroughly, and then place the ageratum seeds on the soil. The seeds of ageratum do not need light, so you need to put a layer of soil on the top of the seeds, but it should not be too thick, just enough to slightly press down the seeds. After about a week, you will see the seeds sprouting.

3. Planting

Planting is done when the seeds sprout and grow a few leaves. First, you need to choose a suitable flowerpot, generally a flowerpot with a diameter of about ten centimeters. Then the potting soil needs to be mainly garden soil and sandy soil. Then plant the ageratum seedlings into the soil, compact the soil, water it thoroughly, and place it in a cool place for about a week before transplanting it to a sunny place to grow.

IV. Daily Management

Do not water too much when watering. Generally, just keep the soil moist. In the early stages of growth, you can water it more appropriately, so that the ageratum can grow well.

As for fertilization, generally you can apply organic fertilizer once or twice during the growth period, just a thin layer of fertilizer.

Since ageratum likes sunlight, you can expose it to more sunlight.
