Cutting propagation of Daphne koreana

The cuttings of Daphne koreana can be carried out in spring, summer and autumn.

The suitable time for cuttings of Daphne koreana in spring is from late February to late March. Select strong one-year-old branches with a length of about 10 cm, remove the leaves on the lower part of the branches, while retaining 2-3 leaves, and then insert them into the seedbed. For cutting propagation in summer and autumn, first cut the branches of Daphne koreana that have good growth potential that year. It is best to have internodes at the base of the cuttings so that they are easier to root. Insert the cuttings into a river sand basin at a depth of about 2/3. Provide appropriate shade after insertion and keep it reasonably moist. It will take about 45-60 days for the cuttings to take root.

High-pressure propagation of Daphne koreana

The suitable time for high-pressure propagation of Daphne koreana is generally from March to April. Select 1-2 year old strong Daphne branches, which need to be ring-peeled with a width of about 1-2 cm. Wrap the cut with plastic sheeting, fill it with soil, tie the bottom of the plastic sheeting tightly, and when tying the top, be sure to leave some small holes to allow air to circumvent watering, and keep the soil moist. It will take about 2 months for the roots to take root. After autumn, it is necessary to cut it off from the mother plant in time and put it in a pot or plant it separately.

Water cutting propagation of Daphne koreana

Generally carried out in summer, water-transplantation propagation has the advantages of fast rooting and high survival rate. Select the branches of Daphne koreana grown in the current year, which are about 8-12 cm in length. In order to accelerate its healing and rooting, it is best to use a sharp knife to ring cut about 1-2 mm from the branch point the day before pruning, remove the leaves on the lower half of the branch, and keep 3-4 leaves on the upper part of the branch, and cut off the rest. Then put the processed branches into a wide-mouth bottle, fill the bottle with water about 3/4 deep, and add 2-3 drops of vinegar. The cuttings should be about 1/3 in water and held straight and fixed. Cover the bottle mouth with gauze and tie it tightly. After planting, place the plant on the indoor windowsill and add water as appropriate. After about 5 days, spray the leaves 1-2 times and change the water once a week. It will take about a month for the roots to take shape. Pay attention to transplanting into pots in time.
