How to plant Jade Dew seeds

How to plant Jade Dew seeds

1. Seed collection

1. Jade plant itself will not produce seeds and needs artificial pollination. The best time for pollination is in sunny, windless weather. Choose two flowering, well-growing varieties as parents. It is best if the leaves are compact, round, crystal clear and full. Then you can carry out artificial pollination.

2. Remove the petals of two flowering plants, dip a brush in pollen, and apply it to the other plant. You can also save the pollen and do it the next morning, which will increase the success rate. After pollination, the flowers will produce seeds, which can be picked when they are ripe.

2. Sowing time

The seeds can usually be sown right after being picked, as they have strong vitality. The seeds can also be dried and refrigerated, and they will survive when sown in the summer.

3. Operation method

1. Mix vermiculite, leaf mold and peat soil in a ratio of 3:2:2, heat them with hot water or in a microwave oven for high-temperature sterilization, which can reduce the chance of disease.

2. Sow the seeds at a certain distance. Although the random sowing method can also produce germination, there may be a situation where the two seeds overlap and compete for nutrients. Use a spray bottle to spray some water and cover with plastic film or glass to reduce water loss. Seedlings will appear in about half a month to 20 days.

3. After the seedlings appear, remove the glass slide, place it in a ventilated place, and spray a little water to prevent the culture medium from being too dry.

4. Post-management

1. When the seedlings enter the growth period, the diseased and weak seedlings should be cleared out. Planting too densely will affect the overall growth momentum, so they should be transplanted to other pots in time.

2. There is no specific regulation for the soil quality after transplanting, but it must not be too thick and sticky. The selection principle should follow the principle of good air permeability and drainage. Vermiculite and charcoal can be used, and other mixtures can be added.

3. Plants grown from seeds have a certain degree of uncertainty and may mutate. If other good-looking and healthy varieties appear, you can keep them.
