How to trim a Lonza gemstone

How to trim a Lonza gemstone

1. Simple pruning

The simple pruning mentioned here is in contrast to the pruning into a fixed shape mentioned below.

(1) First, you need to choose a day with good weather and prepare a pair of sharp scissors that you can use easily.

(2) Once everything is ready, observe your flowers carefully. Don't worry about the shape for now, just cut off the diseased branches, broken leaves, insect leaves, thin and weak branches, and all the unhealthy parts.

(3) Prune the tertiary branches and some thin branches that branch out from the main trunk. Reduce the top branches that are too long and affect the aesthetics by 5 cm to avoid the formation of a single branch that is too long and has uneven nutrition. Finally, keep the thicker main branches, preferably smooth and neat, which is the plant we want.

2. Trimming and shaping

As the name suggests, this pruning method is to form the Lonza gemstone into the shape we want, which is also called pulling.

(1) Columnar structure on the box: This structure is wound on the flower box with the help of shaped auxiliary objects, using straight-line traction, S-shaped traction and other methods. Common shapes include arched, columnar, etc. In the end, the flowers will be wrapped around the pulling object, which is very beautiful.

(2) Open shape: This structure is mostly used in non-potted situations to expand the ductility of the plant, such as the pruning of Longsha wall. Here we introduce the pruning (pulling) method of Longsha Wall in detail:

Fix the nails to the wall (retro brick walls look good), wrap them with wire rope, and connect them to form a shelf.

Tie the branches of the plant with hemp rope and then tie them to the wire rack. It is best to expose the beautiful wall. Be careful not to damage the buds.

After waiting and observing for a while, the beautiful Longsha wall is ready.
