How to make Euphorbia milii bloom on New Year's Day

How to make Euphorbia milii bloom on New Year's Day

1. Actual flowering period

The flowers of Euphorbia milii are very delicate and small. It is hard to imagine that such small and lovely flowers can bloom for a whole year. Although the flowering period is long, if you want it to enter the flowering period early, you still need to regulate the flowering period. Because the method is relatively simple, we can also do it at home

2. How to control the flowering period

1. Environmental control

A. About watering and fertilizing: Providing sufficient water and appropriate fertilizer during the growth period will advance its flowering period. During its flowering period, adjusting the soil moisture to a moderate level can keep the flowers blooming continuously.

B. About temperature: Do not place Euphorbia milii outdoors in winter, as long-term low temperatures will prolong the flowering period. If the temperature is kept above 15℃, the goal of advancing the flowering period and continuing flowering can be achieved to a certain extent.

2. Technical Control

A. Growth regulators: Plant growth regulators are the most effective way to regulate flowering period. The purpose of regulation can be achieved by using gibberellins which are commonly sold on the market. Apply gibberellins to the flower buds once every two days. The number of application days depends on the flowering period you want to regulate. Generally, treatment for about 40 days can advance the flowering period by 50 days.

B. Pruning branches and leaves: Whether Euphorbia milii can bloom basically depends on the content of nutrients required by the plant. As long as the ratio of nutrients is greater than that of other minerals, it can continue to bloom. Therefore, timely pruning of dense and old leaves can concentrate nutrients on the flower buds, which can also have a certain effect in regulating the flowering period.

3. Notes

Although the tiger thorn plum blossom is delicate, its thorns are very sharp. The most terrifying thing is that its thorns are somewhat poisonous, so you must be careful when dealing with it.
