What to do if plants lack light in winter

What to do if plants lack light in winter

1. Fluorescent and incandescent lamps increase lighting

This method of increasing light is currently the most commonly used method. Generally speaking, if a 1400-watt light bulb is placed 2 meters away from the plants, the lighting effect it produces is the same as that of the sun. If the distance is shortened, it depends on the actual situation.

In order to save energy, we can usually use 100 to 300 watts of white fluorescent lamps, which can provide the same lighting conditions and can well meet the growth requirements of plants. Moreover, when this light source is close to the plants, it will not cause harm to them, so it is still very good. But incandescent lamps are not allowed, because only a little of them can provide light, and the rest is all heat energy. When plants get close to them, they will directly burn. So you must be careful when using it, so that it can better enjoy the light.

2. Bio-light

In recent years, a new type of biological lamp has appeared, which is more suitable for plants. It is relatively safe and is the closest to the sun's sunlight. However, if you want to increase the length of daylight, you still need to use incandescent lamps. It is generally best to turn on the lights in the middle of the night. This can prevent flower buds from forming when there is no light.

3. Use reflectors

In addition to the above method, there is also a relatively safe and practical method. Generally, we can install some reflectors on the lighting lamp and start lighting. Sometimes we can also use mirrors, tin foil and other materials with good reflective ratio to supplement the lighting. This will allow the plants to grow more evenly and straight during their growth and flowering periods, and can also maintain the beauty and neatness of the plant shape. In addition, you should change the direction of the flower pot frequently so that every direction can get adequate care.
