How to water succulents

Once lacking water, the leaves of succulents will appear dark red, the leaf tips and old leaves will dry up, and the surface will be soft and shriveled.

North and South and Watering

Generally speaking, most parts of China are relatively dry in winter, with low temperatures and large temperature differences. At this time, watering must be strictly controlled, otherwise the succulents will easily suffer from frost damage or even die. However, in the north, there is heating indoors and succulents can continue to grow, so water needs to be replenished in time according to actual conditions.

Weather changes and watering

As the weather changes, succulents have different water requirements. When the temperature is high, succulents need more water. When the temperature is low, water less. On rainy days, succulents evaporate less water and generally do not need to be watered. In late autumn when the weather is sunny and the climate is dry for a long time, you can use more spray to increase the air humidity while watering appropriately.

Flowerpot types and watering

Succulents are tenacious and do not have high requirements for pots, so there are many kinds of pots for succulents. However, it should be noted that due to the different characteristics of the pots, the amount and frequency of watering for succulents will also be different.

Ceramic pots are suitable for growing succulents due to their good air permeability. Generally, they only need to be watered once every 6-8 days.

Plastic pots, porcelain pots, and metal pots are not as breathable as ceramic pots, so it is advisable to water them once every 10-12 days.

In addition, if the succulent is planted in a pot without holes, the amount of water must not be too much. Therefore, the water demand of succulents themselves is not high. In a container without holes, water is not easy to evaporate and discharge. Too much water can easily damage the succulents.

Plant size and watering

Newly planted succulents have underdeveloped root systems and weak ability to absorb water, so they should not be watered too much. Succulent plants that have been cared for for a period of time have strong root systems and can absorb the required water well, so they can be watered normally.
