How to prune foliage plants?

Method 1: pinching

Pinching is generally applicable to plants grown by sowing and cutting propagation. Pinching can allow the plant to produce more flower heads and branches, and can increase the number of flower buds and flowering. Makes plants appear full and lush. Pinching is also a common pruning method for plants. It mainly involves cutting off the tops of the plant branches to prevent them from continuing to grow. This can force the sprouting of side branches. Sometimes it can even be topped off continuously.

Method 2: Thinning

This is mainly aimed at thinning out plants that grow too densely or too vigorously, and lightly pruning their denser leaves or branches to increase their light transmittance and ventilation, allowing the plants to grow healthier and stronger. It is also beneficial to extend the flowering period, make the flowers fuller and brighter in color, and achieve a fruitful scene. At the same time, you should also observe the condition of the plant frequently. If you find any signs of yellowing or insect infestation, you can cut them off immediately to avoid affecting the normal growth of other branches.

Method 3: Wipe your head

Head trimming is generally done on tall plants that have been cultivated for a long time and the space in the house can no longer accommodate them; or the overall shape of the plant is rather inconsistent, for example, the upper part grows normally, but most of the leaves in the lower part have fallen off, and it has lost its appreciation value. Head trimming can be done in these two situations.

Method 4: Remove foreign matter

Under normal plant growth conditions, some branches emerge rather abruptly and are bright green in color, which is completely inconsistent with the original plant characteristics. Such branches must be pruned off in time. Such branches grow faster and absorb a large amount of plant nutrients. If they are not pruned for a long time, it will not only affect the appearance of the plant, but also cause malnutrition of the plant.
