How to grow gardenia in spring

How to grow gardenia in spring

1. Soil

It is very important to choose suitable potting soil. It is an acid-loving plant with a suitable pH value between 5 and 6. It is very afraid of alkaline soil, so it must not be planted in alkaline loam. The soil for flowers can be sandy loam or red soil mixed with peat soil, leaf mold, garden soil, etc. Avoid using coal slag soil that does not contain humus.

2. Temperature

The suitable growth temperature for it is between 16 and 18 degrees Celsius, which is generally in line with the average temperature in spring. However, if it is too low or exposed to direct sunlight, it will cause certain damage to its growth. So in early spring, if the temperature is too low, we need to pay attention to keeping warm. Usually, it should be placed in a well-ventilated and sunny place.

3. Moisture

For it, water control must be strict. It prefers moisture, but excessive moisture can cause root rot, so be sure to water it properly. The frequency of watering mainly depends on the dryness and wetness of the loam. Watering is required as soon as the soil in the pot is dry. At night, you can spray the leaves with a spray bottle to increase the humidity.

4. Fertilizer

It is a fertilizer-loving plant, but considering that it must grow in acidic flower soil, a small amount of ferrous sulfate should be added to the fertilizer each time it is fertilized, and then fermented for a while before applying fertilizer. During the peak growth period in spring, you can apply fertilizer every half a month. It is best to add some water to the fertilizer to avoid burning the roots due to high concentration.
