How to prune Areca palm

How to prune Areca palm

Trimming method

Pruning of Areca palm is generally done once two years after planting, and then pruned in time as the plant height continues to increase. General pruning is mainly to solve the problems of reduced branch and leaf space growth and insufficient light caused by the rapid growth of Areca palm. It can also solve the problem of insufficient nutrients caused by tall plants and dense stems and leaves.

The main thing is to cut off some main branches that are too tall, because the stems are too thick and require some large tools. The second thing is to cut off some sick and weak branches. If you want to do cuttings, you can plant the slightly healthier branches in unused pots. This way you can complete the pruning and reduce waste.

Trimming

Model 1

First, use scissors to align the center line of the Areca palm leaves vertically, cut off the middle part of the leaf pieces one by one, and then cut horizontally ten centimeters from the top of the main leaf. This will create a very neat and beautiful shape.

Model 2

Similar to the first step of shape one, but instead of cutting in parallel, a gradually narrowing method is used from bottom to top or from top to bottom to cut out an arc shape. The shape is as follows. Doesn’t it also have a different kind of beauty?

Not only can flower lovers use their imagination to cut the Areca palm, but they can also use its leaves to weave beautiful shapes. Friends who are interested can give it a try.
