How to deal with mild root rot in Chiva Lotus

Emergency treatment of Chiva Lotus root rot

Step 1: Remove from the basin

Pull out the succulents, wash the roots, and cut off all moldy parts.

Step 2: Disinfection

Apply carbendazim to wounds and moldy areas, and then leave them to dry for three days.

Step 3: Rooting

To re-root the processed succulents, you can use the hydroponic method and place the Chiva Lotus at the mouth of the pot, but do not let the water touch the roots, which can promote rooting. Or plant it directly in the soil and let it take root.

Step 4: Recovery

Do not move the plant before it takes root. Water it after the roots are stable. Then observe it carefully. If nothing goes wrong, it will take 1 to 3 weeks to take root and grow again.

How to save Chiva Lotus from mild root rot

This method is suitable for Chiva Lotus with mild root rot. There is no need to remove the plant from the pot. As long as the soil in the pot is dry, the plant will slowly recover.

Step 1: Blow dry

The first thing to do is to let the soil in the pot dry as soon as possible, control the water and blow air quickly, and place the flower pot in a position with good air circulation on the flower stand. You can use the power of the fan to dry the soil in the pot as soon as possible. If the air humidity at home is also very high, you can use a heater to reduce the humidity.

Step 2: Loosen the soil

Wait until the soil on the surface of the flower pot is dry. When you use a flower shovel to dig the soil without it sticking to the shovel, loosen the soil deeply. You will find that the turned-over soil is still very wet. You can expose it to more sunlight and continue to turn the soil when the surface soil becomes dry. Repeat the cycle until the turned-over soil becomes dry.

Editor's suggestion

There is also a simplest method: take the Chiva out of the pot and let it air dry for a few days. At the same time, spread the soil in the pot and blow dry, dry it in the air, or bake it dry. No matter what method you use, just dry it, and then replant it.

It should be noted that succulents that are exposed to rain for more than three days will most likely suffer root rot. Also, if they are watered too much and wilt, these are signs of initial root rot and need to be dealt with immediately. Do not wait until the rot reaches the stem before attempting to rescue them, as by then it will be too late.
