Heshan District's scientific and technological experts went deep into the countryside to provide practical technical training to empower farmers and build a new chapter of sunshine income increase

From August 19th to August 25th, the 2024 Yiyang City "I will contribute to the country's rejuvenation and do practical things for the people" Sunshine Income Increase Plan Practical Technology Training Class organized by the Disability Employment Service Center of Heshan District, Yiyang City was held in the conference room on the second floor of the Beian New Village Committee Office in Lanxi Town. 50 disabled people from the town participated in the training.

The training teachers are Yiyang City Science and Technology Special Commissioners and Heshan District Science and Technology Expert Service Group aquatic , animal husbandry and fruit and vegetable experts with rich experience in theory and practice. They provide intensive indoor training on freshwater fish and chicken feeding, vegetable production and marketing, and yellow peach cultivation techniques (Figures 1-3). "Why are the pepper leaves wrinkled?" "What causes rusty roots on beans?" "I want to learn the grafting technique of watermelon seedlings ." "The original grapefruit variety doesn't taste good. I want to graft it. How do I do it?" The trainees asked questions enthusiastically and were enthusiastic about learning.

At the outdoor practical site (Figure 4-Figure 6), according to the farmers' fruit and vegetable gardens, Specially appointed expert Wang Dixuan teaches step by step how to identify and prevent the melon silk borer on loofah. According to the occurrence and development patterns of the insect in the local area, prevention should be started in time at the end of July or the beginning of August each year. Do not wait until the pest occurs seriously before it is too late to use pesticides. To graft grapefruit, you must grasp the timing, use mature autumn shoots as scion, and adopt belly grafting or cut grafting methods. A "Y"-shaped shaping and pruning demonstration was also carried out on peach trees. The on-site operation was better than thousands of words in the classroom, and the students said they gained a lot.

This training is the second session following the one in Zhaizilun Village of Longguangqiao Sub-district Office in July, and will be held in Oujiangcha Town and other townships in succession. (Reported by He Yongmei)
