How to grow hanging bamboo plum in winter

Winter maintenance methods

Placement

In winter, the hanging bamboo plum should be moved to a brighter location indoors and placed or hung, or directly placed in a sunny place indoors for maintenance.

Winter Temperature

The room temperature must be kept above 8 degrees in winter to allow the hanging bamboo plum to survive the winter safely. Above 14 degrees, the hanging bamboo plum can resume normal growth.

Precautions during dormancy

In winter, the hanging bamboo plum enters a dormant period. During the dormant period, watering should be reduced. If the original watering frequency is maintained, the leaves of the hanging bamboo plum will turn yellow or the roots will rot. When watering, it is best to do so around 9 am on a sunny day.

Wintering outdoors

If the hanging bamboo plum spends the winter outdoors, you should carefully wrap the entire hanging bamboo plum with plastic film. If it is winter in the north, you should set up a protective layer around it. In sunny weather, you can lift the plastic film at noon to allow the hanging bamboo plum to breathe.

Winter fertilization

When fertilizing the hanging bamboo plant in winter, you can follow the procedure of fertilizing - watering - watering - fertilizing - watering - watering. The interval time is about 7 to 10 days, and the specific time depends on the actual environment of growing hanging bamboo plum.

Humidity of air

The weather is drier in winter, so you can often spray water on the leaves and surrounding areas of the hanging bamboo plum to increase the humidity of the air. If it is a hanging bamboo plum after cuttings, you can spray water twice a day, but don't spray too much water each time. If you spray too much, it will cause the cuttings of the hanging bamboo plum to rot.

It is not recommended to keep the hanging bamboo plum in the bedroom for a long time in winter.
