How to manage Caladium during its dormancy period

How to manage Caladium during its dormancy period

Management of Caladium

Caladium enters a dormant period in winter every year. During this period, it is necessary to prevent it from being frostbitten. If frostbite occurs, it will affect its growth and may even prevent it from germinating. After Caladium enters dormancy, you should reduce water and stop applying fertilizer accordingly. Pay attention to the ventilation conditions of the dormant environment, and the temperature should be kept at around 15 degrees, so that it will not germinate and is conducive to dormancy.

Fertilizer

Water in spring and autumn to ensure that the soil is moist. Too much watering can easily lead to root rot, while too little watering may cause poor leaf development. In summer, the sunlight is strong and the water evaporates quickly. At this time, in order to meet the growth needs of variegated caladium, the amount of watering needs to be increased. At the same time, because of its vigorous growth, it is necessary to apply certain liquid fertilizer to help its growth.

Ventilation and lighting

Variegated caladium needs to be guaranteed to have sufficient light. Insufficient light can easily cause the leaves to develop poorly, appearing relatively thin, and will also affect the gloss of the leaves. The temperature is hot in summer, and strong sunlight will damage the growth of variegated caladium, so it needs to be shaded. At the same time, ensure that the variegated caladium has a well-ventilated growing environment. During the vigorous growth period in summer, pay attention to the pruning of branches and leaves, cut off the broken or drooping branches and leaves, and keep the plant fresh and vigorous at all times. This will make the variegated caladium more ornamental.
