How to raise Oplina

In the big family of succulents, Oplina is one of those plants that is both easy to grow and beautiful. If it is properly maintained, the leaves of Oplina will be plump, pale blue in color, and light pink at the tip. At first glance, it looks like a beauty with red rouge on. If you notice symptoms such as slender leaves, dull color, and loose plant shape, it may be that your succulents lack light and water. After learning the following points, I guarantee that your Oplina will be white and plump.

Watering

Since Oplina has relatively thick leaves, it is relatively drought-resistant and can be fully watered under sufficient sunlight. For example, in spring and autumn, it can be watered thoroughly when the soil is almost dry. However, in hot summers and cold winters, the frequency and amount of watering should be reduced. Wait until the soil is completely dry before watering in small amounts. When planting, it is best to choose soil with strong air permeability and good drainage, such as mixing peat soil and granular soil in a 1:1 ratio.

illumination

In summer, due to the high temperature and strong light, the plant should be moved to a cool and ventilated place when the temperature exceeds 30℃. When the temperature is suitable, the sunlight time can be appropriately extended. Sufficient sunlight can make the leaves of Oplina more gathered, the white powder thicker, and the leaf tips and edges appear light pink. It should be noted that if there is a lack of sunlight, it is easy to cause the plant to be thin, dull in color, and only grow tall, making Oplina appear top-heavy.

Seedling

During the seedling acclimatization period, plant the plants in a dry or moist soil environment, then place them in a bright place for 1-2 weeks, keep them ventilated, and then gradually increase the light. During this period, it is recommended to water as little as possible or not at all.

Summer and winter

When the temperature exceeds 30 degrees in summer, Oplina should be placed in a cool and ventilated place. Excessively high temperature may cause the death of the plant. Once it exceeds 35 degrees, it will enter a dormant period. During the dormant period, keep less water or no water. After the temperature drops, you can water it again, but don't water it too much at once at the beginning. The amount of watering should be increased little by little. If the temperature can be kept constant above 5℃ in winter, you can water it normally. If the temperature is below 0 degrees, you need to control the water. Too low temperature will cause frostbite on the plants. You can give the roots of Oplina a little water when there is sunshine.
