How to plant purple leaf plum seeds

1. Sowing time

It can be planted in spring and autumn, and generally the time periods from April to June and from October to November are chosen for sowing. The warm climate is more suitable for seed germination and the germination rate is better.

2. Sowing Method

1. Most people buy seeds, and I don’t pick seeds myself, so before choosing seeds, you should observe whether there are any flaws on the appearance and whether the grains are full. Do not leave the seeds for too long, otherwise it will affect their vitality.

2. Soak the selected seeds in warm water for two whole days. After the seeds have completely absorbed water, take them out and set them aside.

3. Find a flat, sunny piece of land with fertile soil for sowing. Fine-tune the land in advance, remove impurities after deep tillage, sterilize with carbendazim, and finally leave loose and fertile garden soil.

4. Sow the soaked seeds in the garden. You can dig a two-centimeter hole in advance. After putting the seeds in, spray an appropriate amount of water, cover the seeds with soil, and level it. The seeds of purple-leaf plum have strong adaptability, strong germination ability, and are easy to survive.

3. Post-management

1. Transplanting

The seeds germinate and seedlings appear, and they can be transplanted in mid-to-late April. The specific time should be around four o'clock in the afternoon. At this time, the sun will not shine directly and the temperature will not drop sharply at night, which is the most suitable. Prepare the seedbed for growing seedlings in advance, and one acre of land can be irrigated with about four to five tons of fertilizer.

2. Seedling cultivation

After the seedlings are dug out, they are moved to the nursery ground. The spacing between the seedlings after transplanting can be about 20 to 30 centimeters.

Add enough water. Purple-leaf plum is not drought-resistant, but it has better tolerance to moisture. Except for long-term waterlogging, when you are not sure how much water to add, it is better to keep it wet than dry.
