Sunflowers not blooming

Sunflowers not blooming

1. Lack of light

The growth of sunflowers cannot be separated from sunlight. If they are not exposed to the sun for a long time during maintenance and are placed in a cool environment, their growth will be affected, which will in turn affect their flowering and lead to no flowering. If it is caused by lack of light, you should move it to a well-lit place as soon as possible and get more sunlight. It is best to give it light all day. In an environment with sufficient light, it will accumulate more nutrients, so that it can grow vigorously and bloom as scheduled.

2. Lack of nutrients

The reason why sunflowers do not bloom may be due to lack of nutrients. The nutrients consumed during the peak growing season and flowering period are relatively high. It is best to apply top dressing once every half a month, and apply potassium dihydrogen phosphate foliar fertilizer once a month before flowering. This will promote smooth flowering and vigorous growth.

3. Improper watering

Although sunflowers have a certain degree of drought resistance, if they are not watered for a long time during maintenance, their growth will be hindered, which will affect their flowering. If you find that the soil in the pot is dry, you must add water in time. It is not tolerant to waterlogging, and too much watering is not good for its growth and may even cause root rot. It is best to water it when the soil is dry and not water it unless it is dry. Control the amount of watering and water it thoroughly each time. Do not allow water to accumulate.

Improper pruning

Sunflowers have strong germination capabilities and need to be pruned in time during maintenance. If the sunflowers are not pruned for a long time, a lot of nutrients will be consumed, which will cause the sunflowers to not bloom. It is best to cut off the overgrown branches, thin branches, diseased and insect-infested branches, and dry branches in time to reduce nutrient consumption, promote more concentrated nutrients, and improve internal ventilation and light transmission, so as to promote luxuriant branches and leaves and more flowers.
