Cultivation methods and precautions of large green radish

The big green ivy is a popular indoor foliage plant. It not only beautifies the home environment, but also effectively purifies the air. Therefore, many people like to grow a few pots of it at home. So what are the cultivation methods and precautions of the big green radish? Let’s learn more about it below.

1. Soil selection

It grows best in loose, breathable and well-drained soil. For home breeding, you can mix leaf mold, garden soil and river sand in a ratio of 1:1:1 and add an appropriate amount of organic fertilizer to provide sufficient nutrients.

2. Light temperature

The big green radish prefers diffuse light and avoids direct sunlight. When growing indoors, it should be placed in a place with bright diffuse light. The most suitable growth temperature is between 18-30℃, and the indoor temperature in winter should not be lower than 10℃.

3. Watering tips

The branches and leaves of the big green radish are thick, and it has high requirements for water. It is necessary to replenish water in time to keep the soil moist. In addition, it is hot in summer and water evaporates quickly, so the amount of watering should be increased. You can also use spraying to increase the humidity of the environment around the plants.

4. Reasonable fertilization

During the spring and summer when growth is vigorous, apply a thin layer of compound fertilizer every half a month. Fertilization should be reduced in winter when growth is slow. When fertilizing, follow the directions on the package and avoid over-fertilizing, which can lead to salt accumulation.

5. Pruning to prevent diseases

Prune yellowing leaves and branches regularly to keep the plant neat and healthy. At the same time, check the plants regularly and deal with any signs of disease or pests in a timely manner. Common pests and diseases include aphids, red spiders, etc., which can be controlled with soapy water or special pesticides .

6. Notes

(1) Gently wipe the leaves with a damp cloth regularly to remove dust and help the plant photosynthesize better.

(2) During maintenance, windows should be opened frequently to ventilate the plants to increase photosynthesis and metabolism of the leaves.

(3) After fertilizing, water the plants promptly to promote the absorption and decomposition of fertilizer .

(4) When pruning, use sterilized scissors and cut along the nodes on the branches. The pruned branches and leaves can also be used for cutting propagation.

In general, the big green radish, like the ordinary green radish, has vigorous vitality and adaptability, and it is relatively easy to cultivate. By paying special attention to details such as temperature, light, water, fertilizer, and pruning, you can easily cultivate healthy and lush green radish.
