Summer dormancy and maintenance of Ranunculus

Summer dormancy and maintenance of Ranunculus

Dormancy of Ranunculus

Ranunculus can go dormant. In fact, many times when flower lovers grow Ranunculus, after the flowers have bloomed, they begin to wither and turn yellow. Everyone thinks that the flowers are dying, so they throw them away.

In fact, this is wrong. Ranunculaceae itself is not an annual plant, and it does not die after flowering, but goes into hibernation.

Generally in summer, when the temperature exceeds 30℃, Ranunculaceae will begin to hibernate. At this time, all its leaves will wither, as if they are "dead".

Summer dormancy maintenance of ranunculus

In the summer, it should be noted that as the temperature rises, the ranunculus will gradually wither. At this time, the number of watering should be reduced. After all the leaves have withered, the dead leaves should be cut off, and water should be stopped. Place it in a cool and ventilated place for maintenance.

In fact, you can also directly take out the underground rhizomes of Ranunculus, store them in dry sand, and replant them when the time is right. Generally, Ranunculus can be replanted and maintained again in autumn.

If you don't want to take out the rhizomes, then you must be careful to avoid exposure to the sun and rain, and don't water too much. Just water a little after the soil is completely dry. It will naturally recover in autumn.
