How to grow succulent plants outdoors

Choice of flower pots

If you want to grow succulents outdoors, then choosing a flower pot is very important because you have to consider many factors.

If it is raised in a relatively humid environment, it is generally necessary to choose a ceramic pot for outdoor cultivation, which can ensure water permeability and air permeability. If you live in a relatively drier region like the north, you don't need to worry too much about the flower pots. Just make sure there are drainage holes at the bottom of the flower pot.

Soil configuration

If you want to grow succulents outdoors, the main thing when preparing the soil is to ensure water permeability. Do not let water accumulate in the flowerpot, so you don't need to worry too much even if it rains.

Generally, you can add a little more soil with larger particles to improve drainage. If it is a flower pot like a ceramic pot, it is naturally permeable, so you can add a little coarse soil.

Watering

When growing succulents outdoors, they mainly rely on the weather, and watering generally relies on rain. If it is an area with more rainfall, it can basically ensure sufficient water if it is grown outdoors. But if it doesn't rain for a long time, you will have to water the plants yourself. Generally, ensure that the soil is dry and water thoroughly. When watering, be careful to avoid the sun and high temperature.

If there is water on the leaves, wipe them dry immediately.

Position

When growing succulents outdoors, the first thing to pay attention to is what type they are. For example, winter-type and spring-autumn-type succulents are best not grown outdoors in summer. Secondly, in spring and autumn, try to place it in a place with sufficient light. If it is a succulent plant that likes diffuse light, place it in a place with diffuse light.

Generally, in summer, choose the southwest direction, and in spring and autumn, choose the south or due south direction.
