2. Common diseases

1. Anthracnose: One of the common diseases of avocado, it mainly harms the fruit and can also infect the leaves and young branches. Once infected, it will cause fruit drop and fruit rot. In the early stage, the lesions are round, with a diameter of no more than 5 mm and are slightly concave. It will then spread rapidly, the spots will connect into patches, and will cause the fruit flesh to rot. If you want to treat it, you need to cut off the diseased leaves and store the fruits at low temperatures after picking.

2. Scab disease: After becoming infected, brown bumps will appear on the avocado fruit, which will then turn into light purple. As the fruit matures, the spots will connect, the center will become sunken, and the skin will become rough. Although this disease does not affect the taste, it does not look good. After the disease is discovered, the diseased branches and leaves should be cut off in time, destroyed in a centralized manner, and sprayed with Bordeaux mixture or other pesticides for prevention and control.

3. Cercospora spot: This disease mainly harms leaves, stems and fruits. Diseased leaves will develop brown spots that turn purple and have irregular shapes. Diseased fruit will cause cracks in the skin, making it easier for other pathogens to invade. Chemical control is generally used. You can spray copper preparations and myclobutanil on the branches to treat the disease.
