Maintenance tips for cherry potted plants

Maintenance tips for cherry potted plants

How to care for cherries

Water and fertilizer

When growing cherries, pay attention to watering frequently when the branches and leaves are dense, and the soil should not be too dry. Water and fertilizer are generally applied thinly and frequently. From spring to autumn, fertilizer is usually applied once every half a month. In autumn, a little potassium dihydrogen phosphate is also needed.

temperature

Cherries are relatively cold-resistant plants, so you need to be careful when growing them. If the winter is too cold, you need to take warming measures. The temperature should be maintained at 25°C when the fruit is growing.

humidity

Cherries require relatively high humidity. Generally, the air humidity can be kept at around 50%, so that the flower buds will grow better.

Cherry tree management

Flower and fruit management

When growing cherries, you need to pay attention to thinning the flowers and fruits. Cherry trees still have a lot of flower buds, so most of them should be removed, one-third of the flower buds on the fruiting branches should be removed, and attention should be paid to pollination. After the fruits grow, pay attention to thinning them out. Prune away any unsatisfactory fruits.

Pruning Management

The shaping and pruning of cherry potted plants is also very important. When pruning cherries, summer pruning is the main method, and winter pruning is auxiliary.

Pruning in summer is mainly to maintain the shape of the tree and preserve flowers and fruits, cut off branches that affect the shape of the tree, and pinch the top appropriately.

Winter pruning is mainly to adjust the tree shape, cut off some branches, and shorten branches that are too long.

After pruning, the cherries will have a better shape and the flowers and fruits will be better.
