Is shrimp farming done in freshwater or marine water?

Prawns are rich in nutritional value and are a food that many people like to eat. As an aquatic product with high economic value, many farmers want to cultivate it. So is shrimp farming done in freshwater or seawater? Let’s take a look below.

1. Is shrimp farming done in freshwater or seawater?

Shrimp farming is a marine farming method. It is mainly distributed in the farming areas of the Yellow Sea, Bohai Sea and Zhoushan in my country. It has high requirements for the seawater environment, so its price is relatively expensive among shrimps.

2. Shrimp farming technology

1. Pond requirements

(1) Taking the farming of white shrimp as an example, the pond depth must be around 1.8 meters.

(2) The pond must have a complete water intake and drainage system and must be surrounded by sufficient water resources. In addition, the nutritional content of the breeding water must meet the nutritional needs of the white shrimp.

(3) A fixed-power aeration equipment should also be added to the pond to provide oxygen to the pond within the specified time to ensure that there is sufficient dissolved oxygen in the pond.

2. Greenhouse structure

(1) The main structure of the greenhouse is in the shape of a human figure, which can reduce the difficulty of construction and save construction materials.

(2) The bamboo-wood frame structure can be used to build a greenhouse. It is easy to disassemble and the bamboo-wood frame can also be recycled.

(3) The thickness of the coating should be 0.6-0.8mm and should have good transparency. The color of the film should be as white as possible.

3. Sterilization

(1) Before releasing shrimp fry, they must be sterilized. Quicklime can be added to the pond for disinfection about 25 days before the shrimp fry are officially released.

(2) After disinfection with quicklime, it is necessary to add bleaching powder of appropriate concentration to the pond one week in advance, and also add an appropriate amount of fertilizer , such as chicken manure.

4. Shrimp seed management

(1) Select shrimp fry

① Since the water in the pond when raising white shrimp in a greenhouse is usually fresh water, it is important to choose a diluted variety of shrimp.

② Moreover, according to the breeding conditions of the greenhouse pond, choose shrimp species that can adapt to the greenhouse pond environment, and try to choose shrimp fry that are sold more in the market.

(2) After selecting shrimp fry for non-toxic testing, non-toxic testing must be carried out to ensure that all indicators of the shrimp fry meet the specified requirements and avoid the spread of viruses among the shrimp fry.

(3) Before stocking, be sure to leave the bag of shrimp fry in the pond for about 15 minutes so that the shrimp fry in the bag can adapt to the water temperature and basic environment of the pond. After they have adapted, they can be unpacked and put into the pond in batches. This can reduce the stress response of the shrimp fry and avoid large-scale deaths due to the inability to adapt to the environment. The Vino fish and shrimp life liquid can be sprayed in the pond to fully supplement the shrimp's physical nutrition, enhance the immunity of aquatic animals, quickly replenish the nutrition of weak fish and shrimp, and increase vitality. Enhance the shrimp's ability to resist stress and reduce various stress intensities caused by pulling nets, swimming in ponds, hypoxia, floating heads, cramps, soft shells, water quality deterioration, water changes, material changes, long-distance transportation, high temperatures, typhoons, rainstorms, and climate change. To promote the rapid healing of wounds in aquatic animals' body tissues and the recovery of the body, and to improve the uniformity of shrimp growth, the number of shrimp fry to be raised must match the size of the pond. Generally, you can place a fixed grid in the pond, and then raise a certain number of shrimp fry in each grid to prevent the shrimp fry from swimming freely.

5. Feeding management

(1) Feed can be added reasonably according to the growth conditions of the shrimp, so as to ensure that the feed amount can meet the growth needs of the shrimp. Be careful not to overfeed, otherwise there will be waste and underfeeding, which will also affect the growth of the shrimp. Therefore, Vino Shrimp can be added to the feed to quickly supplement vitamins with high vitamins, promote the rapid growth and development of the shrimp, enhance vitality, improve palatability, and make the shrimp meat firm and the body color bright. It is beneficial to normal molting and hard and bright shells. At the same time, it improves the survival rate, shortens the rearing period, reduces stress, and thus improves the feed conversion rate.

(2) The feeding time must be consistent with the shrimp’s feeding habits to avoid feed waste and reduce the impact of excessive feed on pond water quality.

6. Adjust water quality

(1) Adjust water quality in a timely manner according to changes in water quality. By monitoring water quality at a fixed frequency, changes in pond water quality can be monitored in a timely manner. Then, steps can be taken to reduce feeding to effectively regulate the water quality of the pond.

(2) Water temperature can be adjusted in time according to the season. When the water temperature changes, appropriate measures must be taken to stabilize the water temperature to prevent water temperature fluctuations from affecting shrimp growth.

7. Adjust the dissolved oxygen content in water

(1) The dissolved oxygen content can be adjusted to the appropriate level in time according to the specific dissolved oxygen content in the water.

(2) Usually, oxygen can be injected into the pond water through an oxygen pump inside the pond, and tested by a dissolved oxygen content detection device to determine whether the dissolved oxygen content in the water meets the standard. Once the dissolved oxygen content reaches the standard, the oxygen supply can be stopped.

(3) It should be noted that the dissolved oxygen content in water varies in different seasons, so the dissolved oxygen content needs to be adjusted flexibly.

8. Disease prevention and control

(1) Usually, after a period of cultivation in a greenhouse pond, a large amount of sludge and bacteria will accumulate in the pond. If the silt and bacteria are not cleaned up in time, not only will the water quality of the pond deteriorate, but diseases may also break out. Therefore, it is necessary to clean the pond in time. To improve the water quality, you can sprinkle Vino bacteria to activate and adjust the water to ensure fresh water quality and increase the growth of beneficial microorganisms to provide an excellent environment for shrimp growth, reduce the elimination rate, and accelerate the healthy growth of shrimp. Reduce the probability of disease occurrence.

(2) Grid farming can effectively isolate viruses, prevent them from spreading between shrimps, and reduce the area where the disease occurs.

(3) Based on the growth status of shrimp fry, the type of infectious disease can be determined, and targeted drugs can be applied to improve the quality of shrimp fry disease prevention and control.

In the process of shrimp farming, it is necessary to change the water regularly to ensure the water quality is clean. When there is insufficient dissolved oxygen in the water, turn on the oxygenation equipment in time to ensure that the shrimp have enough oxygen to grow. In addition, it is also necessary to control the transparency and pH value of the water, reduce the changes in pH value, and avoid excessive changes in pH value that affect the growth of shrimp.
